Why is it day in India but night in America

Arjun:
“Daddy! It’s night here in America… but grandma in India said it’s morning! How can it be night and day at the same time?!”

Daddy (Goutham):
“Great question, Arjun! It’s all because of how the Earth spins!”

Arjun (eyes wide):
“Like my spinning top?!”

Daddy (smiling):
“Yes, exactly like your spinning top! Imagine the Earth is a big round ball, spinning slowly. It takes one whole day — 24 hours — for the Earth to spin around once.”

Arjun:
“Okay… but what does that have to do with light and dark?”

Arjun:
“So India is on the side with the Sun now?”

Daddy:
“Yes! And since we live on the other side — here in America — it’s nighttime for us. As the Earth spins, India will slowly turn away from the Sun, and we will spin into the sunlight!”

Arjun:
“Whoa! It’s like taking turns with the Sun!”

Daddy:
“That’s right! Every place on Earth gets its turn for day and night — just like how your top spins and everything around it moves.”

Arjun (grinning):
“I like Earth’s spinning game! So cool!”
